Random Walk

Random Walk is a project by Eyal Weizman and Christian Nicolas started in early 1997 while studying at the Architectural Association in London. The project adopted the technique of photo finish photography to document actions over a short duration of time at specific locations at particular times of the day. Multiple specialized cameras were adapted to use one 35mm film for a single image. A custom built enlarger was used to produce prints.
An exhibition at the AA Photo Library was followed by exhibitions at the UrbanIssue gallery in Berlin and Jewish Museum in Jerusalem, a book publication, and an installation at the DG Bank building in New York. Images from the project were also included in other publications, notably Speed-Visions of an accelerated age.
